What is pool rust, and how do we fix it?
Pool rust comes from a couple of different sources. The first being the rebar that is considered the skeleton of the pools shell. The next thing that causes visible pool rust is the tie wire that they use to attach the rebar together. When the tie wire is left to close to the pools surface, it often times will cause rust to occur. Both of these types of pool rust repairs are similar. They are both repaired in the same manner and they both cause the same cosmetic problems with your pool finish.
There are seldom times were pool rust occurs from people. Yes people. But it is not what you think. People get the idea to take metal toys and other metal objects (basketball hoops and umbrella stands) into the pool. Nails, screws from home projects and much more. Never leave anything metal in the swimming pool. The chemicals are sure to destroy it and leave damage on the pool itself.
When making any San Diego pool rust repair services, we always determine the extent of the damage. You never want to leave any rust underground. If you do, it will cause the rust to re-appear over a short period of time. Once the extent of damage is determined, we will remove all of the material so that we expose the rusted out section. Once the old rusted section is removed, we will coat the metal with a rust proofing spray. This is not necessary, it is just another step that we take to make sure the job was done to the best of our abilities.
Now that the pool rust spot is cut out and protected, we will fill the patch with concrete. Leaving enough room for repairing the pool surface material. Depending on the type of pool finish you have, will determine the final appearance of the patch that is made. This is due to the fact that existing pool surfaces change and not always are the colors going to match. We do everything in our power to try and make it as un noticable as possible.
